What is the necessary process for becoming a Rhode Island umpire?
To become a member of the RIUA an individual needs to sign up and take the RIUA umpires training course. This training course is hosted by Major League and Minor League Umpires.
Where do Rhode Island umpires get their uniforms and equipment?
The RIUA enjoys a great relationship with Major League Umpires, our uniforms will be provided by Gerry Davis Sports. In cooperation with Gerry, he offers all RIUA members a discount while ordering merchandise.
What type of games will I be expected umpire?
The RIUA assigns baseball games at various levels. You can umpire all levels of baseball from the Little League all the way to Can-Am League of Professional baseball.

What types / levels of baseball ball does the RIUA service?
We currently assign all levels of baseball from Little League to the Can-Am League of Professional baseball.
Where and how do leagues sign up?
To sign up and have the RIUA cover your baseball assignments contact us and we will talk to you about or coverage plans.
What assignment system does the RIUA use?
We use the Arbiter Sports assigning tool. This tool has been made to be very easy to use and is used in all levels of baseball.
Why use the RIUA?
We require all our officials to be professionally trained before they can work any assignment for the RIUA. All of our umpires must attend the training sessions and are required to attend our fall clinic as well. We believe in constant training to improve our umpires in all the variety of levels that we assign.
